GIG Network Solutions is a fibre optic specialist concern, based in Amanzimtoti, Kwa-Zulu Natal. 

The Company offers technical expertise with regards to the planning, upgrading, installation and maintenance of existing and new fibre optic communications networks for a variety of applications and environments.  

The company was established in 1998 to specifically service the fibre optic requirements of the data cabling industry, however, as a result of the “guilty by association” syndrome (the fibre guy is always the one to blame!), the Company was forced to redefine it’s skillset and capabilities to include installation and fault finding of copper cabling systems and the commissioning of associated communication equipment. 

With the continual increase in the popularity of fibre optic cable as communications medium in Industrial, Surveillance and Audio environments, we adjusted our focus and redirected our efforts away from benign office networks and more towards Industrial applications in harsh and hostile environments. 

The components and materials used in projects are of the highest quality available in order to ensure optimum reliability and performance in environments ranging from benign offices to hostile industrial and manufacturing environments, i.e petrochemical, pulp and paper, sugar mills and manufacturing plants.

Our employees are required to attend regular occupational safety training to keep their awareness and responses honed and sharpened at all times. Every member of our team is consciously aware of the importance and relevance of the rules and regulations of the Occupational Health and Safety act. Every member understands that safety regulations are designed to not only to ensure the safety of a single individual but that of everyone in the team and immediate vicinity.

Management fully supports the South African Government’s initiatives to uplift and economically empower previously disadvantaged businesses and individuals. 

In an effort to contribute constructively to these programs GIG follows a stringent  procurement policy that favours products and services from SMME’s and BEE enterprises. We procure  65 % of our materials from Durban based black owned businesses and sub-contactors.           

In addition to procurement policies that favour specific demographic groups, the Company is also actively involved in bettering the lives of it’s employees, again with specific focus on previously disadvantaged groups. We encourage our employees to empower themselves by obtaining skills that may not necessarily benefit the Company but may prepare the individual for development outside of GIG’s sphere of interest.
