Network Maintenance

An integral part of our service package is to test, upgrade and maintain existing fibre optic cable networks.

This normally involve a thorough inspection and evaluation of the cable network, existing documentation, physical layout, termination enclosures, patch cables and the general state of the cable installation.

The physical inspection involves a “walk through” where cable routes and services are inspected and compared with available documentation and network information. During this time obvious points of possible failure are noted.

Termination and joint locations are opened and evaluated on functionality and manageability. Previous generation splice boxes with 3 or 5 meter pigtails are marked for replacement. Colour coding and numbering are noted for future reference.

Each and every fibre is OTDR tested to determine the length and general condition of the fibre. Attention to protocol specific distance limitations forms a very important part of this testing.

Once the physical inspection is completed, a report is compiled from where a quotation is prepared for the upgrade of the network. Once our quotation is accepted, the work begins.

It is our mission to improve the performance of your network. This is normally achieved by improving the though-put speed of your cabling system by optimizing your fibre utilization and reducing losses to an absolute minimum.
